New Education Team Welcomed By NASUWTMon, May 08, 2006Source: NASUWT'I very much look forward to working with Alan Johnson, the new Secretary of State.'"I very much look forward to working with Alan Johnson, the new Secretary of State." Commenting on today's reshuffle, Chris Keates, General Secretary of NASUWT, the largest union representing teachers and headteachers throughout the UK, said: "I regret that Ruth Kelly and Jacqui Smith are leaving the DfES. They have been staunch advocates of social partnership which is continuing to secure benefits for teachers, headteachers and pupils. "I very much look forward to working with Alan Johnson, the new Secretary of State. He takes up the post at a very sensitive time. The agenda on pay and conditions alone is extensive. "However, he already has a working knowledge of social partnership. The concept was developed when he was in the DfES previously. I am therefore confident the constructive dialogue will continue." |
